Yuuhi no o-yama ni, Teru teru momiji

Two baby clothes posts in a row! I started to plan this outfit pretty much as soon as I heard Giffy-chan was pregnant. I knew I had to make her something really fun to celebrate all those awesome cosplayer genes she's passing on. ^__~

Since Giffy-chan has cosplayed Yuki from Fruits Basket before, I decided to make a Momiji outfit for Sweets. I originally planned to use Simplicty 7317, but after I realised the sizing issues, I went with Simplicity 7807. I was surprised, when I opened it up, to find that I'd made bunny ears to go with it before. I have no memory at all of using this pattern to make a bunny outfit before! o_O; Those ears were much too small, though, and I used the 7317 ears instead.

I added paw pads, eyes, and a wee little bunny tail. I considered doing a pom-pom style tail, but it was just too bulky, and seemed like it would be very uncomfortable for her to wear.

I used an applique stitch I haven't used before on my machine to apply the paw pads and eyes, and I think it came really nicely. Very happy with it, I'll definitely be using it again.

Jarratt picked out the cutesy hood lining all on his own, when I couldn't make it to a fabric shop until the weekend. He's such a sweetheart. ♥

If I was making it again, I'd probably round out the back of the hood, rather than having it as pointed as it came out, but I'm being really picky at that point - I'm really very happy with how cute this one turned out. Also, Sweets is pretty much the cutest baby on earth. What a darling!
