Ta-da!
With many thanks to Giffle, for her charming and patient company last night, the pirate-baby outfit is done.

I'm really happy with the gorgeousness of the hot pink bias against the pirate polar. And I added a little extra detail - 'Captain Kira' embroidered on the chest. Apologies for the low-quality image. ^^;

Mostly the patten makes up nicely, except that the hood construction is a bit off. It looks kind of unfinished when you're done. :| The instructions don't specify the attachment of the main hood piece to the body well enough (leave zip opening seam allowance folded under, and hood allowance extending beyond edge), and the way the front hood fold is attached doesn't work well at all. I remember that now, from last time... I think the solution is to fully line the hood, attach the two front pieces to the two main hood pieces, then join them at the front edge (which will be covered by bias tape, anyway), stitch through the hood-to-front seam to secure the positioning, and baste the two together at the neck before joining the hood to the body. Of course, that will require extra fabric - this pattern is a tight squeeze in the quantity specified, anyway. At a guess, and extra .3 of a metre wouldn't go astray.
Now... off to pick out something else. ^__^
